About Dandenong Ranges Fencing

This site is for homeowners in the Dandenong Ranges and foothills with a fence to build, replace or repair. It sets out the rules and local facts suburb by suburb and passes quote requests to a local fencer.

We connect you with a local fencer who works in the hills.

Who does the work

We aren't fencers, and we don't do the fencing. A quote request sent through this site comes to us, and we contact you about the job as soon as possible.

Where the rules come from

Every rule on these pages is taken from the text that sets it: the Act or regulation, the planning scheme, or the page of the authority that runs it. Each section ends with the sources it was checked against and the date.

Rules change. If a checked date looks old, the authority named under it has the current word.

The local facts on the suburb pages, such as history and landmarks, come from the suburb's Wikipedia article and the state's planning maps. Both are named where they are used.

What this site isn't

  • It isn't the council, and it can't grant or refuse a permit.
  • It isn't a directory or a quote marketplace. Your request goes to a local fencer, not to several businesses at once.
  • It isn't legal advice. Where a page says a rule applies, your property report and the council have the last word.

If something is wrong

Tell us through the form below. Choose "Something else", then say which page and what you found. A wrong rule gets fixed and rechecked, and the section's checked date changes with it.

What happens to the details you send is on the privacy page.

What's the job?

How long the fence is, what it's made of now, whether the ground slopes, and whether a neighbour shares it.

A photo along the fence line and one of the worst part help with the quote.

Your name, number, what you write and your photos reach us by email, and go to no one else. We keep the email for record keeping purposes, and a note of the time, the page, the suburb and the job, so we can count requests. Privacy.
